Nevada leads the way for women in politics
The Reno Gazette Journal and HuffPost will co-host a bi-partisan panel discussion about women in politics in Nevada at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The panel comes at time when Nevada could become the first state with a female majority in its legislature. On top of that, Nevada's congressional delegation is 50 percent female and women make up majorities on the Washoe County Commission and Reno City Council. The panel will address how women nationwide are making advances this election cycle while there are still significant challenges to increasing representation.
The discussion will be moderated by HuffPost Washington bureau chief Amanda Terkel and will feature the following panelists: Teresa Benitez-Thompson, Majority Floor Leader of the Nevada State Assembly; Marsha Berkbigler, Washoe County Commissioner; Anjeanette Damon, the Reno Gazette Journal's government watchdog reporter; and Sue Wagner, the former lieutenant governor of Nevada.
